Hosted VoIP is booming – why are we not surprised?

If you are already a hosted VoIP reseller, you don’t need us to tell you that IP-based telephony is one of the fastest-growing areas of the B2B technology sector right now. But what’s around the corner? Resellers must always keep up with the latest trends and developments in the market. You are an IT business after all, you’re be expected to know. But while hi-tech development is always said to be moving faster than ever, for a while now the needle has been stuck.

Look at any articles on what the main themes in IT are going to be this year, and you could easily be forgiven for thinking you’ve read it all before. That’s because you have; mobility, the cloud, and security are the dominant topics once again, as they have been for the last three or four years. And theses interrelated areas are likely to remain the central focus of business and development for some time to come, as organisations transform themselves from the old fixed-based, fixed process business models, to ones that really do make use of the increased flexibility and agility new technologies can enable.

Another non-surprise is that hosted VoIP sales are surging. Like the other tech trends, we’ve known about this for some time but the pace has been quickening and looks like it will continue to accelerate throughout 2017 and beyond.

Part of the reason for this is the continuing advance of the other main tech trends. Everyone wants to be more mobile and flexible, and with hosted VoIP you can be on the same number wherever you are. More businesses are now subscribing to cloud services as well, and that’s giving them the confidence to try out other services and adopt IP-based telephony.

For resellers of hosted VoIP, the added momentum that these trends are generating is very positive. They are bringing many more potential customers into the market and there is no sign of this train slowing down any time soon. It looks like it will just keep on rolling and keep hosted VoIP resellers very busy indeed for the foreseeable future.
